October Sky
Chapter 25: The National Science Fair
When Sonny arrives at the National Science Fair he discovers that the competition is bigger than what he expected. He was up against a lot more weathly places were being represented along with thier huge and expensive projects. He also had to face the battle with the judges because they are not accepting of the rockets for the reason of them potentially being extremely dangerous. Sonny realizes that he left his nozzles behind and they were stolen, at this point he has no choice but to call his mother and ask the town to get him before the judging began the next day. While Sonny is at the fair he meets someone who works with his hero, Wernher von Braun who is also at the science. Sonny begins his search to find Wernher von Braun. During his unsuccessful search for his hero, other students campaign favorably to remove the rocketry category from the science fair. Sonny wins thanks to the town promptly sending him new rocket parts.
Chapter 26: All Systems Go
The last chapter of October Sky begins with Sonny back in Coalwood and the strike over with. Sonny also finishes his high school career, to celebrate the accomplishment Sonny and the other Rocket Boys agree to launch the last of their rockets. Everyone in Coalwood and many from surrounding towns come to see the rocket launches. Above all the most important person there was Sonny father. As they launch their rockets everyone begins to celebrate. When it comes down to the final rocket being launched, Sonny suggests that his father shoudl fire it. The two of them finally have a moment together giving Sonny the ultimate thing he wanted the rockets to do.
